The Island Pongwe, located in the fishing village of the same name, allows guests to spend a morning fishing on a classic Zanzibarian “Ngalawa” boat. Accompanied by village captains and in partnership with local fishermen and producers, you can experience the same hand-line fishing that has been handed down for generations in Zanzibar .
The relationship with the local area and the entire supply chain of local producers and farmers is the basis of the management of The Island Pongwe as it allows the resort to cover about 80 percent of its supply through zero-kilometer food.
